Hububb

Hububb is a show created by Ben Keaton it used to air on BBC1 Or CBBC1 it starred Les Bubb, Elaine C Smith, Ben Keaton and later Miltos Yerolemou. Hububb started in 1996 the Pilot was filmed in the Autumn of 1995 and 5 more series`the program unfortunately finished in 2001 and has only aired once more on the then new CBBC Channel.

The Start

1n 1995 The BBC had an opening for a 15 minute comedy programme aimed at the 8 to 12 year olds. They asked Les Bubb and 4 other groups to write a treatment for it, eventually a full shooting script. It was Les Bubb`s first time at doing this, so Les took his basic idea to good friend Ben Keaton (Casualty’s Spencer) to work on it with Les. In the autumn of 1995 they filmed a pilot episode of Hububb and it was commissioned by BBC 1 for them to do 13 episodes. An off-shoot of the production company “Noel Gay”, based in London was specially formed in Edinburgh to film the project. Noël Gay had previously been known for other successful comedy series such as Red Dwarf and their regular director Ed Bye filmed the pilot (and they were very thankful for such experienced support) Each series was shown on BBC1 the following January after the filming. So the 1996 series was shown in 1997, the 1998 one was shown in 1999 and so on . . onwards to the 5th series filmed in 2000 and screened in 2001. Apart from occasional repeats in the summer holidays, and further showing on the then new CBeebies channel it has been screened in Ireland, Belgium and Holland.

Les Bubb

Les Bubb (above) is propably well known for his role in Hububb playing himself but he is not a stranger to the screen because he has been on the popular series Blue Peter and has also appeared in a Harry Potter film. Les born in Liverpool is England's best mime-artist and is still going strong and still performs on stage.
